Gory serves as the WBCC Programs Coordinator and Community Liason. A native of Colombia, Adriana is a native Spanish-Speaker and helps the WBCC serve its Spanish-Speaking community.
Gory's entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her story of emigrating to San Diego from Colombia, with little resources.
Gory Jaramillo was born and raise in Medellin, Colombia. She attended University Ponticifia Bolivariana, where she graduated with honors in Social Work in 1997. While attending college, she was selected to do an internship for six months with the Department of Justice of Colombia working as a coordinator to implement the program “Conciliacion en Equidad” http://www.conciliacion.gov.co. After completing college she went to Chile to work as a consultant for the non-profit organization “Unidades –Ciem” where she implemented a project of Social Development. She also had the opportunity to work with the First Lady of Chile, developing a program to empower women called “PRODEMU” http://www.prodemu.cl.
One month after her graduation she was hired as a Social Worker for the biggest cardamomo exportation company Cultivares S.A. in South America. She worked there for two years. During these two years Gory developed programs to teach children, women, and 500 employee’s topics such as: health, emergency preparedness, family, etc. She had to leave the company due to violence conflicts in the region where the company was located.
Gory’s dream of learning and to help society didn’t end up there. She came to San Diego, CA in 2000 with two suite cases, $2.00, and a lot of dreams. She started working with Latin Credit http://latincredit.com as an office manager implementing workshops about financial education, selecting and implementing staff members, and sales.
She is the co-founder of “Mujeres con Mayuscula” a group of 40 women. The mission of this group is to inspire women to become leaders with their families, their job, and their society.
She is looking to fulfill her dream by having the opportunity to work with the community. “I have realized through out my life that my destiny is to work with groups of people. I enjoy it and I have a passion for it.”
